Welcome to Christian Ethics!

Ethics provides man with a framework within which to interpret, understand and act in the world. Christian Ethics provides such structure by drawing upon out collective lived human experience informed by Christian revelation and tradition. Beginning from the ontological origins of philosophical and theological understanding of the human person, students will reflect upon the nature of the human person, the dynamic of human relationships and the teleological fulfillment of the human person.

The course seeks to acquaint the student with the richness of the Catholic-Christian ethical tradition in dialogue with pluralistic perspective of contemporary secular society. The course incorporates an interdisciplinary approach, integrating the social sciences, and history with theology. The material covered explores factors affecting ethical decision-making: the structure of the human person, human desire and human freedom, as well as moral maturity, competing methodologies, formation of the conscience, and the theological understanding of sin. Inherently dynamic, ethics invites application. The practical aspect is explores through examination of moral dilemmas and contemporary issues.
